These outstanding organizations are the current charitable partners of the Helping Hands Society.
The ASEM program (through the Arlington Community Foundation) was established to provide students attending Title 1 Schools in Arlington County Public Schools, opportunities to enrich their student experiences. The after school activities include theater, dance, mathematics, class field trips and sports team activities. Since the program’s inception in 2019, ASEM has provided over $100,000 in scholarships to over 6,000 students (K-5th grade).
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or our future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
In 2013, SafeSpot Children’s Advocacy Center of Fairfax was established by a group of concerned citizens who understood the need for a coordinated response to investigating and prosecuting child abuse, while providing comprehensive support services to young survivors and their families. SafeSpot’s core programs include forensic interviewing, family advocacy, and mental health therapy, as well as the coordination of Fairfax County’s multidisciplinary team response to child abuse. Their mission is to provide a safe environment and support services for child abuse victims and their families as they navigate the investigation and aftermath of abuse. In 2023, SafeSpot served 650 children and their families.
